Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino shares a preview of the AI features that the stablecoin firm is currently developing alongside its own AI SDK platform.
In a recent post, Ardoino unveiled three short clips that showcase how Tether’s artificial intelligence apps would work in the future for desktop and mobile phone users. At the moment, Tether (USDT) is developing an AI translator, an AI voice assistant and an AI Bitcoin (BTC) wallet assistant.
The AI Bitcoin wallet assistant in particular can keep track of a user’s wallet balance as well as perform crypto transactions on command.
In the preview, the user asks the Tether AI assistant —known as the Tether Payment Agent— to type out their wallet address, reveal how much BTC is in the wallet and list out the names of recipients in their address. Afterwards, the user asks the payment agent to send 0.001 BTC to a recipient. The agent performs the transaction immediately and sends the transaction ID to the user.
Ardoino stated these AI features will be available to work locally on any device, promising users “full privacy, self-custodial (both data and money).” These apps will become part of Tether Data, Tether’s own AI Software Development Kit or AI SDK Platform.
“Tether will launch soon its own AI SDK platform, open-source, built upon Bare (Holepunch’s javascript runtime), working on every hardware,” said Ardoino in his post. Though, an official launch date for the AI platform has not been revealed yet.
Tether dives into AI projects in 2025
In December 2024, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino revealed the USDT issuer plans to launch its AI platform in the first quarter of 2025. Tether’s stablecoin, USDT, remains its main source of revenue, but Ardoino has hinted at future expansion into other sectors including Bitcoin mining and AI.
In March 2024, Tether established a new division dedicated to developing open-source AI models and partnering with other companies to integrate those models into products.
“This announcement redefines AI boundaries and democratizes privacy-preserving open AI technology,” said Ardoino.
In 2023, Tether declared it has continued its investment in Northern Data, a cloud computing and AI startup. He has expressed that he wants to challenge the dominance of major tech players like Microsoft and Amazon in the AI sector.
