The Open Network (TON) experienced a brief 40-minute outage on June 1, caused by a masterchain dispatch queue error, and is back to functioning after halting block production for a short time.

However, this is not the first time TON has faced disruptions. In August 2024, block production was halted twice in two days, citing a rush owing to users minting DOGS memecoins, therefore overwhelming the network. The first outage halted block production at workchain block 45,341,899, and validators reset their nodes after several hours. The same day, the blockchain crashed hours later, and it took validators six hours to restart the network
Blockchain network outages can occur due to a multitude of factors, ranging from software bugs, failed updates, network issues, heavy transaction loads, spam floods, or consensus failures where nodes can’t agree on the state of the chain.
Sometimes, unsynchronized node clocks can paralyze operations. Similar to TON, Solana-another high-speed blockchain, has also been subject to several network disruptions in the last few years. As per reports, since January 2022, Solana has witnessed almost half a dozen major network outages and around 15 partial or major outage days.
