SeaDream Yacht Club taps Coinbase Commerce to accept Bitcoin for cruise bookings

Norwegian luxury cruise operator SeaDream Yacht Club has started accepting over 200 cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, for voyages and full-yacht charters.

The decision to accept cryptocurrency payments was announced at the 2025 WAGMI Blockchain Conference in Miami, where SeaDream Yacht Club claimed to be the first cruise operator to offer crypto as a payment option for all its voyages, according to a SeatradeCruise news report.

SeaDream Yacht Club has partnered with Coinbase Commerce to handle all crypto payments, which can be made in Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and over 200 other cryptocurrencies.

Coinbase Commerce is an on-chain payment processor developed by the U.S.-based crypto exchange that allows merchants to accept digital currency payments from any corner of the globe.

As a part of the partnership, SeaDream has also deployed a digital payment solution for cryptocurrencies on its official website, which will be integrated into its existing booking system in the coming weeks.

Further, the initiative also allows SeaDream Yacht Club to accept cryptocurrency for full-yacht charters, thereby simplifying transactions for international clients by removing the need for currency exchange.

Commenting on the development, Andreas Brynestad, President and CEO of SeaDream Yacht Club, said that accepting cryptocurrency allows the cruise operator to cater to the growing demand for a crypto payment option among its clientele.

The development comes as cryptocurrencies gain traction in the travel sector, with an increasing number of companies adopting digital payment options to attract tech-savvy customers and streamline international transactions.

Last month, Florida-based cruise line Virgin Voyages started accepting Bitcoin for cruise bookings. In September, Travala, a blockchain and crypto-focused online travel agency, partnered with travel marketplace Skyscanner to allow Skyscanner users to access Travala.com’s inventory of over 2.2 million hotels.
