Phantom wallet experiences temporary service outage

Phantom, the non-custodial multi-chain crypto wallet most popular on Solana, experienced a brief service disruption on Feb. 12, according to an update posted on X by the Phantom team.

The Phantom team acknowledged the temporary outage and asked the community for patience as developers worked on a fix. However, the issue was quickly resolved, and the team provided an update confirming that all services were back online.

“All services are back up. We apologize for the downtime. We understand how important it is to access your assets and are taking steps to prevent future outages,” Phantom wrote.

While the team appears to have restored functionality swiftly, this marks the latest downtime for the popular wallet. In October 2023, the team behind the Web3 wallet reported an “uptime incident” that temporarily disrupted some services. That outage occurred during the airdrop of Grass, a Solana (SOL)-based AI project.

At the time, Phantom’s advice to users included use of decentralized applications in case they needed to handle urgent transactions.

In November 2024, Phantom suffered an update glitch that locked out several iOS users due to repeated resets. The bug prevented affected users from accessing their accounts.

Earlier this month, Web3 security platform Scam Sniffer highlighted a phishing threat targeting Phantom Wallet users. According to the firm, scammers attempted to push fake pop-ups within the wallet to steal seed phrases. Phantom has since patched the vulnerability.

Although Phantom Wallet originally launched in 2021 with Solana support, it has since expanded to multiple blockchains. The wallet now supports Sui and Base, an Ethereum layer-2 network. It also recently introduced multi-currency support, allowing users to view balances in 16 different currencies.
